The Rotary Club of Asheville – Biltmore

From noon on Friday, February 25th through noon on Saturday, February 26th, the Rotary Club of Asheville-Biltmore held a 24-hour Walkathon to Fight Dementia at Deerfield. Many Deerfield residents and staff along with Rotary members participated in the fund raiser. There was live entertainment Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, including a special appearance by Mr. Moon, the Asheville Tourists baseball team mascot. A Memory Board was signed by participants to celebrate those we walked to support. For 24-hours, walkers never stopped and passed the baton to the next walker, raising much needed money to support MemoryCare in Asheville and the Rotary dementia research program, CART, both highly effective and worthy organizations. Dementia affects just about everyone in some way and 100% of the funds raised go to these causes.

The goal for the Walkathon was $50,000 and The Rotary Club of Asheville – Biltmore has significantly surpassed their goal with over $78,000 in donations as of the close of the event on Saturday. Many thanks to all who participated and donated to this worthy cause.
