To sign up for the wait list

Future Resident Agreement: The Future Resident Agreement provides you with a priority number, based on the date of sign up. You are asked to indicate the type of residence preferred and the projected move-in date. The Future Residency Agreement does not “lock in” the Entrance Fee.

Future Resident Deposit: You are asked to make a deposit of $1,000, payable to Deerfield. The full amount is refundable for 30 days from the date the agreement is signed. Thereafter, $500 of this deposit is refundable should you cancel the Agreement, or the total amount is applicable to the Entrance Fee later.

Disclosure Statement: We will provide you with a copy of our current Disclosure Statement, which fully describes the organization, facilities, policies, services, fees, financial condition and projections and other vital information related to Deerfield.

Application Forms: After signing the Future Resident Agreement, you are requested to fill out and return the following forms within 30 days:

  • Application for Admission
  • Personal Health History
  • Confidential Financial Statement

Admissions Committee Review: Once your applications are received, the Admissions Committee of the Board of Directors will review the information. Please be assured that all information provided in the application process is handled with complete confidentiality. You will be notified in writing of preliminary approval of acceptance. If your application is not approved, you will receive notification, an explanation and a full refund of the Future Residency Deposit. The review takes from 20 to 30 days.

Availability of Residence: Based on your priority number and on the type of residence specified and projected date, you will be contacted when residences are available. You have the right of refusal with no change in your status. Upon accepting the residence, you will proceed to the Residence and Services Agreement, thereby locking in the Entrance Fee; the Physician’s Health Form; and the Move-In Process.

Residence and Services Agreement: The Residence and Services Agreement is accompanied by a deposit equal to ten percent (10%) of the Standard Entrance Fee for the residence you have selected, less the $1,000 Future Residency Deposit. The 10% deposit is fully refundable for 30 days from the date the agreement is signed. After that, the deposit is refundable as described in the Residence and Services Agreement.

Physician’s Health Form: Prior to move-in, your physician will fill out and send to Deerfield the Physician’s Health Form with information from a physical examination completed not more than six months earlier.

Move-in and Balance of Entrance Fee: You will have 60 days from the signing of the Residence and Services Agreement to move in or assume financial responsibility for the residence. The balance of the Entrance Fee for the refund option you select is payable then. You will be asked to arrange your move with Deerfield’s Move-in Coordinator.

Benefits for Future Residents: Future residents may dine at Deerfield and will receive the Harbinger, a publication detailing events of interest to our future residents. Future Residents also have a priority for admission to the Simonds Health Care Center, based on space available.

Are You Ready For A Move To Deerfield?

Are you considering a move to Deerfield, but you’re not sure you are ready yet?
Here are a few guidelines to help you and your family in making this important decision.

Looking For Myself

How can I help my family understand the reasons for my move?

We understand that the decision to move to a retirement community is a big one, and you want to make certain that your family is on board and supportive of your decision. Open communication and dialogue is important. Discuss with them your reasons for considering the move, whether because of health concerns, home maintenance issues, or your desire to be a part of a vibrant active community. Make sure that they are well informed about how Deerfield can help you deal with those concerns. We welcome them to tour Deerfield to not only see our outstanding facility, but to meet our professional, caring staff, as well as fellow residents who have happily made the choice to live at Deerfield. Seeing is believing, and a short visit will go a long way in helping them affirm your choice. Remember, they have your best interest at heart and want to see you happy and well-adjusted.

I want to live a healthier, happier retirement.

Deerfield is committed to providing amenities, programs and activities that contribute to your health and well being–body, mind and spirit. Deerfield residents’ diverse interests are reflected in the broad range of classes and events offered on our campus. You’ll find interest groups with such varied topics as art, dancing, books, investing, pottery and woodworking to name just a few. Fitness classes include Tai Chi, Pilates, and yoga, and the Aquatic Center offers a range of swimming and water-fitness classes weekly.

Why is a continuum of care important to me for the future?

As a Life Care community, Deerfield offers all levels of health care on-site, if you should ever need it. And we help protect your finances, by maintaining your monthly costs no matter what level of care you need. You can take comfort in knowing where and with whom you will get your care.

The Life Care benefit assures the availability of assisted living or short or long-term nursing care in the Deerfield on-site health center at the same monthly rate as in the apartment or cottage. You pay only for the additional two meals per day during the stay in any level of care in the Deerfield health center and any ancillary health care services not included in your Monthly Fee. Upgraded accommodations in health care are available at an additional charge.

I still have more questions.

Deerfield’s caring staff is ready to discuss your thoughts about a potential move to our community with you, your children and loved ones. We can provide the information needed to comfort any fears and concerns regarding your decision. Let us know any additional questions you may have, or give us a call for more information.

Looking for a Loved One?

I would like to learn more about a move to Deerfield for a loved one.

Guiding a parent or loved one in making this important decision about their future may feel overwhelming. We are here to help guide you through the process and analyze the important factors that impact this decision: financial security, health care access, safety and security, and overall well-being. We know that when these questions are answered, your loved one and you will both have peace of mind.

What about my parent’s financial security?

Arranging the long term care of an aging parent is something many face. Will they be financially secure? In tough economic times, this primary concern requires careful planning. The decision to move to Deerfield can make the most of available resources now, and help to extend those resources to cover future needs. Deerfield’s Life Care program offers a full continuum of care that allows residents to move from independent living to higher levels of care – assisted living, skilled nursing care – with little or no increase in monthly fees. With health care costs escalating astronomically, Life Care is one of the best values you’ll find anywhere.

What can I expect regarding health care at Deerfield?

As a Life Care community, Deerfield offers all levels of health care on-site, should it ever be needed. And we help protect your love one’s finances, by maintaining monthly costs no matter what level of care is required. You can take comfort in knowing where care will be provided, and who will provide it.
