The passionate pursuit of an active retirement

Deerfield is committed to providing a full continuum of health services and licensed nursing care. Deerfield’s nursing staff is available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year and is accessible to residents for assistance or consultation. The emergency call system located in each home summons both nursing and security.

From state-of-the-art cancer therapies to tech-savvy hospitals, Western North Carolina is a destination for health. Asheville’s Mission Health System offers cancer, heart and neurology services as well as a comprehensive range of gynecological and pediatric care services and is the region’s only Level II Trauma Center. Advent Health, the region’s only faith-based hospital, has a history of community outreach and a commitment to the city’s wellness. The hospital hosts free health screenings, support groups, and educational classes and workshops. Advent Health offers services in more than 30 areas of care, including orthopedics and sports medicine. Another option for Asheville residents is CarePartners, which provides rehabilitation, home health, adult care and hospice services for patients throughout western North Carolina.

The Charles George VA Medical Center serves veterans in western North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and eastern Tennessee, offering preventative and general care as well.

The Simonds Health Care Center

Built in an innovative cluster design, Deerfield’s Simonds Health Care Center offers 24-hour care in 62 private rooms grouped in neighborhoods that contain comfortable sitting areas, living rooms and common spaces. A sunny outdoor courtyard provides a secure, enclosed space for gardening, pet therapy, sipping iced tea in the sunshine, or just watching birds flock to the feeders. Activities include movies, trips, discussion groups, social events, and stimulating musical programs. Church services are conducted in the innovative St. Giles Health Care Chapel by Deerfield’s chaplain on Sundays and Wednesdays. The Simonds Health Care Center is a Medicare-approved facility.

To assure that our high standards of quality care are maintained, all areas of the Health Center are under the direct supervision of a licensed administrator, Director of Nursing, and Medical Director, a licensed physician.

On-site Therapies

Deerfield’s Wellness Center houses a specially designed area for physical, occupational and speech therapies. Residents enjoy the convenience of being able to work with licensed therapists on site.

“Our decision to move to Deerfield was driven by the friendly, helpful environment we experienced here as well as the superior healthcare ratings and the stable financial condition. Plus after retiring to WNC 15 years ago we loved the climate and beauty of the Carolina Mountains.”
