Two summer holidays have us thinking about our flag and our freedom. We value the freedoms we have as citizens and also the freedom we now have to gather after COVID restrictions of the past few years.
With spring waning and summer coming officially on June 21st, baseball is in full swing (no pun intended). We plan picnics by the creek, trips to the beach, graduations from high schools and colleges and we celebrate our fathers. Let’s take a moment or two to reflect on our nations flag celebrated on June 14 and July 4th.
Flag Day also called National Flag Day honors the national flag, observed on June 14. The holiday commemorates the date in 1777 when the United States approved the design for its first national flag. Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence, which was ratified by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, establishing the United States of America.
