Since joining Deerfield in March 2004, Matt Sharpe has held diverse positions in administration, philanthropy and resident life. While working at Deerfield, he earned a Master in Business Administration degree from Western Carolina University. Matt was part of the Administrator in Training Program through the State of North Carolina and earned his Nursing Home Administrator License in October 2005. Matt’s interest in caring for older people began at an early age as he helped care for his grandparents on their farm in Catawba, North Carolina. Matching his qualifications to the requirements of his job, it seems as though his position was built around his skills, just waiting for him to step into it. “My work at Deerfield really makes a difference in residents’ lives,” said Matt. “I have learned so much about the day-to-day management of this wonderful community from Bob Wernet, and thank him for his ongoing support and knowledge.”
We wish Matt well in the newly created position of Executive Director, which includes overseeing Operations, Health & Wellness, Facility Services, Marketing, Human Resources, Pastoral Services in addition to serving as liaison to the Residents’ Council.
