A Special Message Regarding Helene

Labor Day Facts:

The first Monday in September became a holiday in 1894. President Grover Cleveland signed the law that Congress passed designating the day a national holiday for workers.

In the late nineteenth century labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

The patriotic holiday honors the American labor movement and the workers who helped build the country and keep it strong.
