Deerfield Charitable Foundation is thrilled to announce that we met our match to support Pisgah Legal Services! As a community of residents, staff and board members we raised $52,000, exceeding the Foundation’s promised gift match of $50,000. The Foundation announced that they will raise the match to meet our communities gifts of $52,000.
Pisgah Legal Services is thrilled for the support and Jim Barrett, Executive Director had this to say, “Because of the long-lasting economic challenges on our community due to COVID-19, we are preparing for a record number of evictions once the federal eviction moratorium expires on June 30th. With this investment from Deerfield, we can provide early legal intervention to keep difficult situations from spiraling out of control and forcing families, seniors, children and other vulnerable people into homelessness. We intend to use this commitment to inspire the greater WNC community to match the generosity of Deerfield and its residents to raise an additional $100,000. If our goal is achieved, the funding from the Deerfield Challenge would result in more than 700 individuals in our region having access to the essential legal representation and advocacy needed to navigate through challenging housing situations and maintain housing stability.”
