The Council on Aging of Buncombe County received a gift in the amount of $25,000 from the Deerfield Advised Fund of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. This gift will be used to further the outreach to at risk seniors who are struggling with food insecurity, health issues, caregiver support, transportation, elder abuse and other daunting problems. The COVID-19 Pandemic has placed a terrible strain on everyone, especially seniors who struggle with isolation and loneliness in addition to all of the aforementioned issues.
Deerfield’s commitment to seniors in Western North Carolina is evidenced by this gift. Michelle Wooley, Director of Philanthropy shares, “Deerfield is beyond grateful for our relationship with Council on Aging and our connection with the work they do in Asheville and Buncombe County. Their advocacy, protection, and support of aging adults in the region is inspirational and we are so excited to do what we can to help them in their work.”
